Spring Updates from WSD
Our students recently began state testing, an important opportunity for us to evaluate our instructional practices and adjust course offerings based on student performance. These assessments help us reflect on the effectiveness of our system and continue to grow. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to close the learning gaps caused by the pandemic, and I’m encouraged by the positive attitudes and strong efforts our students are showing during this testing period.
In a recent announcement, Principal Jami Fluke shared that she will be returning to Dayton to serve as their middle school principal. We wish her well in this new chapter and sincerely appreciate the lasting impact she’s had on our schools.
We’ve already launched an aggressive search process to find our next principal. A parent survey will be sent out soon, and we look forward to working with our stakeholders to gather input. Our candidate pool is growing, and we are committed to finding a leader who will carry forward the educational vision we value in WSD.
As we enter the final stretch of our spring sports season, we’re proud of the growth our teams have shown. Many student-athletes have made significant personal progress in their performance, and it’s been exciting to watch their hard work pay off.
Finally, graduation is just around the corner. We’re planning to hold the ceremony outdoors, with a final decision to be made the week of the event. No matter the setting, we know it will be a memorable and meaningful time for our seniors and their families.
