School Safety and Community Partnerships: A Commitment to Our Students

As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, we are pleased to update our community on several ongoing initiatives that ensure our school environment remains a secure and supportive place for learning.

First and foremost, we are collaborating closely with our community partners across the counties we serve to strengthen school safety. Regular emergency drills are a key part of this effort, helping students understand exactly what to do in the event of an emergency. These drills, coupled with our commitment to clear and timely communication with families via ParentSquare, ensure that our school community is well-prepared and informed.

Winter Weather and School Closures

With winter just around the corner, we want to remind families to stay informed about potential school closures or delays due to weather. As conditions can change quickly, we will make every effort to communicate any schedule changes by 6:00 a.m., giving families ample time to plan for the day ahead. For up-to-date closure information, please visit the closure link on our district website, where you can find our full protocol for weather-related delays and closures.

Exciting Construction Plans Ahead

We are excited to announce that we have released our Request for Proposals (RFP) for our upcoming construction projects. These projects, funded through our recent bond, will help expand secondary classrooms, improve safety features, and modernize learning spaces. Work will begin later this school year, and we look forward to the positive impact these upgrades will have on our students’ educational experience.

Attendance and Academic Focus

A big thank you to our families for their ongoing commitment to keeping students in school. Our October attendance rate was an impressive 86%, based on our district's formula. Your dedication to prioritizing education is helping our students succeed. As we head into the longer breaks in November and December, we encourage parents to help keep students engaged by encouraging reading and practicing basic skills such as math facts to keep their academic skills sharp while away from the classroom.

Community Clothing Collection

We are happy to welcome new green boxes to our campus, which have been placed in the drop-off areas for the community to donate used clothing. These boxes will help collect items for redistribution and recycling, contributing to our ongoing efforts to support both our students and the wider community.

Thank You to Our School Resource Officer

We also want to express our gratitude to School Resource Officer JJ Flynn, sponsored by the CTGR Tribal Police Department. Officer Flynn is an invaluable member of our team, working tirelessly to ensure our campus remains safe and that our students feel protected and supported. His presence is a key part of maintaining a secure school environment.

College and Career Readiness

Our students are actively planning for life after high school, and most recently, they had the opportunity to attend a College and Career Fair hosted by the CTGR partners at the casino. It’s inspiring to see how our students continue to excel and prepare for their future endeavors. We are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to all they will achieve in the years to come.

Thank you again to all of our families, staff, and community partners for your continued support. Together, we are helping our students thrive!

Proud to be the Lead Dog!
