May 8th #RedforEd
Thank you Willamina Community for all that you do, and for supporting our teachers!
Educators around the state may walk out of their schools on May 8th, to urge the legislature to invest in students. Willamina teachers have committed to being on the job and providing instruction for our students, it will be business as usual here in Willamina! Our staff intends to wear red on May 8th, and gather in solidarity to greet our students and families as they arrive on campus that morning.
May 8th has been dedicated as a “Call to Action” day for educators by the Oregon Education Association:
"The choice to truly invest in our schools has been in front of us before and we have not met the challenge. This year is different because we will make it different. We ask educators, parents and public school families around the state to stand up and stand together for students on May 8. Thirty years of disinvestment have put our schools into crisis, and today is the breaking point for educators around the state."
We invite our families and students to show their support, put on your favorite red attire and join the movement!
- Sincerely Carrie Zimbrick, Superintendent, Willamina School District
